MYKONOS, GREECE - June 16-23, 2018

PARISIAN (3).jpg

Named after Mykons, the son of Apollo, Mykonos was an important battleground in Greek mythology. It's where Zeus is said to have clashed with the Titans and where Hercules killed the invincible giants from Mount Olympus. But those days are long gone, and Mykonos is now a tranquil paradise renowned all over the world for its stunning beaches, gorgeous architecture, delicious cuisine and breathtaking vistas of the brilliantly blue Aegean Sea. In other words, the perfect place to indulge yourself this summer with a luxurious and restorative yoga getaway.

For this  retreat, we'll be staying at the ultra-luxe Aqua di Mare Villa. Come and unwind on the majestic pool deck, nourish your body, mind and soul with twice-daily yoga sessions, as well as twice-daily gourmet, private chef-prepared meals, and explore local beaches, towns and other places of interest. Maybe even take an optional boat trip to the neighboring island of Delos, one of the most important historical sights in all of Greece, where you can explore ancient ruins and learn the country's rich history. However you decide to spend your time, you are guaranteed to fill your head and heart with wonderful experiences and beautiful memories from this Mediterranean paradise!

Not sold yet? Here's are some highlights from last year's trip to Crete. How could you say no??

KYOTO, JAPAN - May 20-26, 2018 **SOLD OUT!!**

Kyoto Flyer.JPG

The Lonely Planet travel guide says it best: "Kyoto is the place to go to see what Japan is all about. Here is where you'll find all those things you associate with the Land of the Rising Sun: ancient temples, colorful shrines and sublime gardens. Indeed, Kyoto is the storehouse of Japan's traditions, and it's even the place where the Japanese go to learn about their own culture. With 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, more than 1600 Buddhist temples and over 400 Shinto shrines, Kyoto is one of the world's most culturally rich cities. There are also dazzling geisha dances, otherworldly kabuki performances and an incredible range of shops and restaurants. All told, it's fair to say that Kyoto ranks with Paris, London and Rome as one of those cities that everyone should see at least once."

What else can I say except that in addition to exploring as many of these wonders as possible, we'll also be going at one of the best times of year to visit Kyoto, staying in some extraordinary places and practicing yoga every day in stunning temples surrounded by some of the most beautiful zen gardens you're likely to see anywhere in the world. This is going to be  a very special adventure, and I hope you can join me for it.

**UPDATE 11/21/17: THIS TRIP IS CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. TO BE PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST, PLEASE EMAIL BLAFFOON@GMAIL.COM**

When:  May 20-26, 2018
Where: Kyoto, Japan
Accommodations: For the first three nights of this retreat, we will be staying in the uniquely charming Old Kyoto Machiya Guest Houses, and practicing in the Kenninji Temple, the oldest Buddhist Temple in Kyoto. For the second three nights, we will be staying and practicing at Daishin-In, an ancient temple where we will experience a traditional Japanese "temple stay," which promises to be a uniquely awesome experience.
What's Included: In addition to the accommodations and daily yoga and meditation practices, the cost of the retreat also includes breakfast every day,  three dinners -- one at the highly acclaimed Nakahigashi, a Michelin two-star restaurant, one at a restaurant of our choosing in Kyoto, and another at the Daishin-In temple -- as well as transport from the Machiya Guest Houses to Daishin-In. We will also have a local guide with us at all times to help with translation, local knowledge and anything else we might need.
What's Not Included: Your flight, lunches, any alcohol you wish to consume, three dinners, local taxis for personal adventures,  as well as entrance fees for any temples you wish to visit or performances you wish to attend. Also, because Kyoto does not have an international airport, transfer to and from the airport is not included in the cost of the retreat (from Osaka International Airport, it should cost about $35 to get to Kyoto via high-speed train, and another $15 for a taxi from the train station to the guest houses. Don't worry! We will help you with this!).

Cost: Shared room - $2150**; Private room - $2750
(**Please note, the beds at the Machiya Guest Houses are full size beds; if you are not rooming with someone you're comfortable sharing a bed of this size with, you may want to consider the private room option; also, the bathrooms at Daishin-In are shared specific to gender)
Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of $500 reserves your spot.
